Jihad

Kutuphane'den Richard Bonney'in yazdigi, Sheikh Dr. Zaki Badawi'nin onsozunu yazdigi; Jihad-From Qur'an to bin Laden kitabini aldim.

In this study, which is intended to be read both in West and in the Islamic world, a careful (and it is hoped, consistent) use of terms is employed. There is no such thing , in our view, as Islamic terrorism. There is terrorism perpetrated by violent Islamists, that is to say, by those who are acting in a political cause but who seek to motive people, gaining support and recruits thereby, by using the terminology of the faith of Islam, and in particular the ambiguous but key concept of jihad, the subject of this book.

This book is intend as a helpful contribution to such a process of dialogue, since it is clear that a "false consciousness", a misunderstanding of the nature of Islamic history, has potentially devastating consequences in perpetuating myths and misconception of the "other".

Interesting stuff. Western media throw about the term 'Islamic Terrorist' far too easily. If they use it in that way they should really be calling Tony Blair & George Bush 'Christian Terrorists' and Sharon 'Jewish Terrorists' perhaps.

Hi Steve, welcome :)

That's exactly what Richard Bonney talks about. It's an interesting study, i hope you can find a time to read it.

PS: I've been also living in East London:) And i like its "diversity" as you do :)
